The short version
Chop has no account system, no analytics and no server of its own. Your screenshots and your licence key stay on your own computer.
What the app stores
- Your captures, written to your Pictures folder —
~/Pictures/Chopon a Mac,Pictures\Chopon Windows. They are never uploaded anywhere. - Your preferences — the capture shortcut and whether Chop opens at login — in the app's own settings file.
- Your licence key, in a file beside those settings. It is checked mathematically on your own computer, not by asking a server.
What leaves your computer
One thing: to tell you when a new version is out, Chop asks GitHub for the latest published release. That request carries nothing about you beyond what any web request necessarily reveals — no identifier, no usage data, no licence key.
There is no telemetry, no crash reporting and no third-party SDK in the app.
Buying a licence
Purchases are handled by Polar, who act as the merchant of record. They collect the details needed to take payment and to charge the correct tax, and they hold them under their own privacy policy. We receive your email address so we can send you your licence key and reply if you write to us.
This website
No cookies are set and no analytics script runs. Nothing here needs a consent banner, which is why you are not looking at one.
